Unoya

This popular Osaka eatery is now giving Tokyo a go. Known for Kyoto-style tofu dishes with an Asian twist, Unoya is a unique dining experience. The 52 dishes on offer range from JY350 and JY650, so you can sample away without worrying about your wallet. Original cocktails such as lychee with aloe (JY580) and frozen mikan (JY580) are desserts you can drink.

Open 5pm-12am every day. Fukano Bldg. B1, 1-24-6 Minami Ikebukuro. Tel: 03-3989-1931. Nearest stn: Ikebukuro, east exit.

Cafe Wanofu

The sister of Japanese-style cafe Soizen Wanofu, this new addition to the family serves up - as the name implies - traditional wanofu (Japanese) cuisine with an emphasis on vegetables. Daily lunch is served in a bamboo basket and comes with five or six different dishes, dessert and all the bread you can eat (JY900). In tune with Tokyo's latest savory dessert trend, Cafe Wanofu has such offbeat treats as soybean brulee with black bean topping (JY280). For the less adventurous, they also offer mainstream desserts like mix berry tart (JY500) and others. Those tired of java will appreciate the Japanese tea served in a pot and with homemade chocolate (JY480).

Open 11am-7pm, closed Sundays and holidays. 1-20-1 Ginza. Tel: 03-3538-5480. Nearest stn: Yurakucho line, Ginza 1-chome stn.
