Lawry's The Prime Rib
This American chain, famous for its seasoned salt and prime rib, opens today in Tameike-Sanno. Co-founders Lawrence L. Frank and Walter Van de Kamp started Lawry's The Prime Rib in Beverly Hills, California in 1938, and it has since gone global with restaurants in Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, Jakarta, Singapore and now the first in Tokyo. Other famous items from the menu are their original spinning bowl salad, Yorkshire pudding and mashed potatoes.

With Starbucks, Tully's and spinoff competitors taking over the Tokyo Metropolitan area, the sudden rush of tearooms is a refreshing alternative, and so-an is one of them. Featuring high-quality Japanese tea leaves carefully selected from Kyushu and Shizuoka, this newly opened "cafEquot; offers varieties such as Gyokuro, Sencha, Mizudashi, Kocha and Maccha (JY380-JY800) and onigiri (rice balls) made with a high grade of pickled tea, a bestseller and great for vegetarians. Also, try their new holiday brunch menu offered every Sat, Sun and national holidays from 11am to 2pm and featuring teriyaki chicken, gallette (waffles made from soba flour), salad and pumpkin mousse for JY1200.

Blue Club CafE
A new addition to the ever-popular Venus Fort in Odaiba is this esoteric cafEconcept dubbed a "jelly parlor." Japan's first, Blue Club has an array of jams and gelatins served on a sandwich or in dessert form. Some are made into juices, like the carrot squeeze jelly juice (JY500), but colorful desserts such as green tea and grape cappuccino jelly made with milk (JY600) are the main attraction.
