Japan' strawberry season is upon us and you'll find the queen of fruits wherever you go,
from first class hotels to little sidewalk cafes. The Japanese have an obsession for these
little red berries and every year ichigo (strawberry) dishes seem to get more
complex. Here's a brief sampling of Tokyo's strawberry patch.

The Hilton Tokyo's Brassiere "Checkers" will be featuring the Strawberry
Desserts Parade daily from Jan 15 to Feb 28, offering nine extensive selections of
strawberry desserts at JY700 each. Fresh strawberries, short cakes, etc. are also
available from JY450 to JY800. For some reason, known only to the hotel, all the deserts
are named after Beatles songs: Eleanor Rigby - Mascarpone Mousse and Crisp Custard
Fettucine; Hey Jude - strawberry yogurt mousse; Lady Madonna - Ice parfait garnished with
fresh strawberries and fruit sauce; Penny Lane - Strawberry tiramisu with sherbet;
Michelle - strawberry cardinal slice: Lucy in the Sky - Strawberry ice souffle: Julia -
Fresh strawberries in Filo Mille Feuille; Lovely Rita - Strawberry mousse in poppy seed
touille; Sexy Sadie - Strawberry Crème Brûlée.

Cheese Cake CafEDaikanyama
Serving over 11 different homemade cheesecakes, their strawberry tiramisu-using mascarpone
cheese with large cut strawberries and a slice of pistachio for accent-has quickly become
a best seller. The cake set from JY680 comes highly recommended. Watch out for their new
Jiyugaoka store opening sometime in Feb.

Strawberry Fair
Until the end of Mar, every Haagen-Dazs store will hold their annual strawberry fair
featuring luscious desserts such as strawberry peach (JY850) with strawberry, cranberry
and other fruit toppings, strawberry parfaits (JY850) and strawberry pannacotta (JY850)
using coconut and white chocolate ice cream with raspberry sauce and fresh strawberries on
top.

Mother Leaf Shimokitazawa
Specializing in waffles and Sri Lankan tea, they serve the best strawberry waffle with
whip cream, vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries delivered straight from Tochigi. Try
any one of their 20 different teas (from JY500) to go with your waffle.
