KEN AND YUKO/
STUDENTS
YUKO: We' here to listen to Kooleidoscope. We don't usually listen to this kind of stuff
but it's pretty cool. I go to live houses about once or twice a month. KEN: This band have
a serious stage presence. I see about five bands a month.
YUKIKO/BARMAID
These Kooleidescope fellas sound too much like Shiva Blue for my liking - not my cup of
tea. I don't go to see bands. They come to me - where I work!
MIHO, YUKI AND YOKO/
MUSICIAN, FILM BUFF AND LIBRARIAN
MIHO: What do we think of the band? Pretty good for their first time.
YUKI: The dude with the long hair is seriously cute.
YOKO: Nice name.

Grunge is not dead! Nor is heavy metal, ska or punk; nor, for that matter, are Jimi
Hendrix, Marc Bolan or Bob Marley. Nope. In the live houses around the city the classics
of yesteryear are reincarnated nightly - albeit more youthful and Japanese in character.
Be they good or bad, trends never die in Tokyo, as these brave people found out. Take your
ear plugs.
CHARLES/INSTRUCTOR
I don't really know who I'm listening too, I just came in for a drink. They sound ok, but
better from upstairs. I probably see about eight bands a month on average.

THE SWEET AND SOUR MIXERS
We're not here for anyone in particular but we're listening to some trashy, out of tune
pop. It's like a Japanese version of the Spice Girls. They're called the Rice Girls.
