MARUTA / HAIRDRESSER
Yuigahama, near Kamakura, is my favorite beach because it' not far from the city and the
water is clean. When I'm here I like to sleep. I've definitely started to exercise more.
YUKIKO / OFFICE WORKER
I like to come to Yuigahama Beach in the summer. Apart from swimming, I really enjoy a BBQ
with friends on weekends at the beach. I'm not too worried, but I tend to diet a bit
during the summer months.
HIROMI / CLERK
When I have the time and money, my favorite beach is Shirahama in Okinawa. I like to body
board, but when there's not much surf I just like to relax. I've already started to diet
to get my body into shape for beach season.
Cooling off Photos by Beezer
It's getting hotter by the minute and
Tokyoites are starting to cook. But refuge can be found in the cool waters of the Pacific.
TC's roasting reporter headed to the coast to ask the city's sultry citizens
about their favorite beaches, what they do to pass their time on the sand, and how they've
been fashioning that beautiful bod in the lead-up to beach season.
YUKO / PART-TIMER
My favorite beaches are in Hawaii. I don't usually swim at the beach but like to paddle in
the shallows and generally laze about. I haven't started yet, but I'm definitely thinking
about going on a diet this summer.
GUILLAUME & KAORI / STUDENT & NURSE
Kaori: Since I'm here today, I've decided
that Enoshima is my favorite beach. Guillaume: I really like Ostia beach in Italy. Today we're just walking around enjoying the
view and the sea breeze. It's still a bit early, but we'll definitely be getting into
shape when the beach season fully kicks in.
