REMI AND NAO / DANCERS
We came to Aoyama Cemetery because it' close. People and sake are essential for a good
hanami. This year we did hanami twice and being interviewed by you was our funniest
moment.
SUZI WATT / FREELANCER AND MJR / MALE DANCER
We chose this spot in Yoyogi Park because it is under the blossoms and exposed to the
sporadic sunshine. Flowers, booze and a snug rug are hanami essentials. Definitely our
funniest moment was seeing two guys carrying big foam crates of piss to the toilets.
PHIL AND DEB / BANKERS
We came to Yoyogi Park because it's close and we knew it would be cool and groovy. Lots of
booze, whiskey and good company is essential. We'll be coming three times this year, and
the funniest things we've seen were two Shibuya girls eating the dog on a stick plus
"total" Japanese nakedness.

The sakura have come and gone but the
headache lingers, a reminder of hanami's pervasive presence on the spring social calendar.
While the blossoms were in full bloom, TC's slightly staggering reporter headed
outdoors to get the word on hanami hot spots for 2001. We wanted to know: why did you
choose this year's venue; what's essential for a good hanami; and what was your most
humorous hanami moment?

TEACHERS AND OFFICE WORKERS
We didn't choose this spot in Yoyogi Park, it chose us. Hanami demands good friends, good
weather, good food and good drinks, and we will try to do it as often as possible. The
funniest thing this year has been the crazy "Goth" crowd around Harajuku station
and the "crime scene" ribbons surrounding the various hanami parties.

Yoyogi Park is the hanami spot - second only to Aoyama Cemetery. A large curtain
to sit on is essential for a good hanami. We'll be having one big party this year, and the
most amusing experience so far has been the long line at the toilets.
