All you can eat meat
Where' the beef?

beef

Where? All around Tokyo, apparently. The myth of overpriced Japanese beef is being blown away by a trend of all you can eat joints popping up all around the city. There are various ways of getting your red meat rush. Shabu-shabu style you cook your meat and veggies yourself in a bowl of boiling water at your table, before dipping it in miso or soy sauces. Sukiyaki style beef is boiled nabe-style with vegetables, sugar and mirin (a type of rice-based sweet liquid flavoring), before being dipped in raw egg and eaten with rice. Here are a few places with good value shabu-shabu, sukiyaki or good ol' yakiniku BBQ style all you can eat tabehodai to meet your meat requirements. Julia Peterson

Mo-Mo Paradise
Because Japanese cows go "mo-mo," not "moo-moo." This place lets you choose between shabu-shabu or sukiyaki all you can eat (90 min time limit in the evening). The vegetables are all organic and you get a heaping served with your meal so all you rabbit food lovers might give this place a try as well. The taste is ordinary but when considering the price, it's well worth it. Lunch JY1050. Dinner JY1500.

Yakiniku FuFuTei
This beef flown in from Kagoshima really is a must try. Although Kagoshima beef lacks popularity compared to its Kobe and Sanda brothers, it really is tender and an excellent choice for BBQs. Carne Station Ikebukuro
This yakiniku tabehodai chain boasts an amazing JY980 lunch, including more beef than a Texan body-building convention. But that's not all. For people who need a beef break now and then, you can choose from soup, pizza, chicken, gyoza, vegetable, dessert and over 70 dishes to complete the feast! Dinner JY2980.
Open 11am-5am daily. Satomi Bldg B1F, Minami Ikebukuro 3-9-5, Toshima-ku (03-5951-0591). Nearest station: Ikebukuro (east exit).

For JY1300 (with a 90 min time limit) you get your choice from three different meats (beef, pork, chicken) and 23 other dishes such as udon, vegetables and even homemade custard pudding. It's served buffet style, so just head on down to the fixings bar and pile on whatever your stomach desires.
