The BMW of corporate training

Matt Paine, Senior Corporate Training Developer at ILC
Maki Nibayashi

Leading the pack of corporate trainers in Tokyo, ILC is looking for creative minds. Maki Nibayashi speaks to Matt Paine, Senior Corporate Training Developer, about job prospects at this cutting-edge company.

Please tell us a bit about your company.
ILC Corporate Training is based in Akasaka. In addition to this, we have an extensive operation in Osaka. We provide a flexible, user-friendly and innovative platform of English language teaching solutions for a range of international companies and individual clients. As a customer-focused business, we spend a lot of time listening to our clients and creating solutions that meet and exceed their expectations.
We have divided our operations into a number of "client teams" that are clustered around areas such as finance, tourism, IT and management. These are constantly reviewed and upgraded. By creating a vibrant and positive "can-do" culture based on continuous improvement and five-star training, we are able to maintain our position as the best corporate training organization in Japan. We pride ourselves on being able to make a distinctive contribution to HR departments around Japan. We make their job as easy as possible by creating clear and easy to understand programs. We offer short, customized two- or three-day courses or weekend workshops, and private and group instruction.

Which companies do you provide training for and how?
A number of clients approach us each week to upgrade the skills of their staff. Recently we successfully completed a rich platform of courses in Managing Teams, Effective Leadership and Achieving Excellence. These training options have been provided to banks, hotels, IT companies, retailers and sales companies.
The companies that use our professional expertise will be ideally positioned to catapult past their competition in the near future. We are powering ahead with our autumn season product launch, which includes (among a storm of new courses) our "Business Masterminds" series. This offers insights into the ideas of leaders such as Jack Welch, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. By attending such feature-rich workshops, our clients are able to apply new thinking to their daily working life. Also we will be unveiling our new "Treasury" and "Explorer" projects in November.

What positions are you seeking to fill? Please tell us about their responsibilities, etc. And can you tell us about salary, benefits, etc?

We are proud that so many terrific people have decided to join our teaching and development team. Each person at ILC is a unique and valued asset and has the opportunity to build a versatile portfolio of highly marketable skills and contribute to a range of exciting projects that will benefit our clients.
Our most popular training covers the inter-cultural skills necessary for our Japanese clients to master the areas of presentations and negotiations. There really is a deep passion at ILC for new ideas, collaborative and customer-focused thinking. The people who join our team have teaching qualifications, business experience and a professional approach to their career. ILC is only as good as the people it recruits. Often referred to as "the BMW of corporate training," we are always looking for new ways to make our working environment as cutting-edge as possible. The salaries and benefits we offer are those you would expect of a high-caliber employer.
