What is your company all about and what are its goals?
Japan has recently been experiencing chronic liquidity problems; that is, banks have difficulties supplying adequate short-term funds or loans for corporations. One solution that has developed in the US is for large corporations to borrow directly from investors instead of borrowing from banks, via a commercial paper market. Japan' commercial paper market is one-tenth the size of the US market, which currently has approximately $1.5 trillion of outstanding debt. Our goal in Japan is to provide systems to facilitate the rapid growth of the Japanese market.

Who are your clients?
Our company is working with several large Japanese and US multinationals to design and implement a liquidity management infrastructure. Our partners in Japan include one of the top Japanese trading companies and two of the leading Japanese technology corporations.

What openings do you have?
We are seeking programmers of all levels with experience in C++, Java and object-oriented design for our New Jersey and Tokyo offices. For our Tokyo offices we are also looking for people who have experience working in Japan's short-term fixed-income markets or in corporate cash management, to help us design, implement and market our liquidity solutions.

What kind of people are you looking to hire?
All in all, an attractive candidate for our programming positions is someone who has a college degree in computer science or electrical engineering, with several years of experience in advanced object-oriented development. All of our software is written in Java, running on Sun Solaris and standard Internet browsers. For our product design and marketing positions, we are looking for people with education in finance or accounting, with several years' experience in the money markets or cash management, and with the ability to communicate effectively in Japanese and English.

What are the future prospects within your company?
Japan is undergoing a momentous change in the structure of its capital markets. Our ambition is to provide a long-lasting infrastructural solution for the money market portion of the capital market and to extend this solution eventually beyond Japan throughout Asia. We aim to become an important component of Asia's short-term capital market.
