Ageha gets a taste of
NYC hip-hop; the J-pop
Café gets decadent
Bayside superclub Ageha’s long-running hip-hop event “Fever” gets serious about summer with some authentic New York City swagger in the form of DJ Cipha Sounds.

On FM radio station Hot 97, is also the face of MTV’s hip-hop countdown show Sucker Free. In addition, he’s popular as a touring DJ, heating up the crowd for acts from Lil’ Kim to Mos Def and spinning album release galas for Eminem and Mariah Carey.
Cipha got his start as a cassette-obsessed Bronx teenager, finding his first break interning for the Flip Squad. He was soon behind the decks at legendary New York nightspots the Tunnel and Palladium. But perhaps Cipha’s most seminal moments were selecting for Funkmaster Flex’s nightly show on Hot 97, where he helped to launch once-unknowns like Sean Paul and 50 Cent.
With Cipha continuing to break new artists through his Jack Move production and management outfit, the crowd at Ageha’s main Arena room can expect to hear plenty of fresh tracks in addition to summertime smashes like Rihanna’s “Umbrella.” Reggae dancer Foxy Bullman will be shaking her booty for the dancehall crowd in the Water Bar, while DJs Da Stimpy and Chuck-T lay down rare grooves in the Lounge...
On a different note entirely, Don Crispy in his midnight perambulations recently happened across what must be Tokyo’s most outrageous party of the moment in the form of “Tokyo Decadance.”
The fetish and gay sets were mingling with the electro and glam crowd under a sea of chandeliers at Shibuya’s Trump Club. On a stage in
the back of the room, a slender Japanese vixen stripped down and proceeded to smear her entire body with gold paint as she gyrated to a soundtrack of tech-house and electro. A smattering of punters in jeans and t-shirts watched gape-jawed as the latex and body-piercing set (the event is supported by Roppongi erotic shop Cest Bien) swished past muscled young lads flaunting naked buttocks.
“Tokyo Decadance” next takes place at J-pop Café in Shibuya this weekend. Roppongi fetish bar Mistress is taking over the second floor and will be presenting a series of tantalizingly erotic performances, while a special set of live laptop electro is promised from French artist “Stalker.” Those who pass fashion inspector Marguerite’s dresscode test are entitled to a ¥1,000 discount off the ¥3,500 cover charge.
