European clubbers have recently been attending parties where the dress code is exclusively white.
Amsterdam’s “Sensation White” party attracts upwards of 40,000 each year to its events, each one of them dressed head to toe in nothing but white.
Now DJ, producer and host of the clubbing website CyberJapan, Tokoto Mitomi (left) is looking to bring the concept to Japan with “The White Party” at Womb next Sunday. “We’ll start small with Womb and 1,000 people, but I am targeting bigger and bigger venues in the future,” he says. “It’s new for Japan, it’s damn risky, it’s produced again out of my own pockets—and I believe that it will be a huge success or a huge flop, but as no one has tried it, here I am!”
In addition to Mitomi’s antic house classics, domestic veteran DJ Shinichi Osawa will be on hand with a palette of sounds running from club jazz to garage, while local expat heavyweight Mike McKenna could deliver anything from breaks to prog-house to electro. Hosting the festivities will be Tokyo Perve, the bondage fashion group that also enlivened Mitomi’s rammed Halloween party at Yellow. The group will be running a Tokyo Perve White Fetish Lounge on Womb’s fourth floor. White tops and bottoms are mandatory; shoes and accessories can be of any color...
After a month of renovations, bayside superclub Ageha gets back into action with a visit by Red Alert for one of local hip-hop leader DJ Masterkey’s “Fever” events.

Celebrated with his own exhibition at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and a star on the Bronx Walk of Fame, Red Alert was one of a small number of DJs forging the hip-hop style in the early ’80s. DJing first for Africa Bambaata and then on his own, first at Bronx and downtown Manhattan clubs, Red Alert went on to tour with KRS One as a member of Boogie Down Productions.
Red Alert also boasts a career as one of New York’s top radio DJs, where he continues to host a show for Power 105.1FM, and is known for breaking out the likes of the Jungle Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest and Queen Latifah.
