Ayurvedic principles may be applied to a wide range of complaints.

Ayurveda (Sanskrit for "knowledge of life"), though frequently described in the literature as "Ayurvedic medicine," is not a treatment. It is a holistic system of natural health which originated in India over 5000 years ago. Unlike Chinese medicine, which has pervaded all areas of the globe, Ayurveda has not been well marketed. This is a pity considering it is an easily understood science that encompasses a wide range of measures, many of which can be well adapted to any individual' beauty and health ailments.

Many Ayurvedic herbal applications are developed from Indian botanical resources and may not be widely available, but basic Ayurvedic lifestyle principles, which include dietary recommendations, meditation, yoga, breathing techniques and massage can, once learned, be adapted to any kind of routine, background, cuisine, or physical activity. Depending on your particular "beauty problem," your Ayurvedic practitioner might prescribe any or all methods of therapy.
